Factory Settings is an independent, Los Angeles-based magazine covering art, culture, media, and modern life. We’re building our contributor network and welcoming pitches, original work, recommendations, and ideas we haven’t thought of yet.

You don’t need a finished piece to pitch us. You don’t even need to be a writer to participate. Explore the open calls below, or tell us what’s on your mind.

While all contributions are unpaid, we can offer you a byline, plus real, hands-on, human editing and distribution across the site, the newsletter, Instagram, and, occasionally, in print.
