Send us your pitch
The calls on this page exist because a blank page is difficult, not because they are the limit of what we publish. The best thing you send us may very well not fit under any of the specific open calls we currently have listed.
If you have an idea that has been following you around—an argument, an obsession, a body of photographs, a thing you noticed that will not leave you alone—send it our way. We publish essays, criticism, interviews, reporting, photography, objects, audio, and video, across the site, the newsletter, social, and a small-batch print issue. Length and form are flexible, and we’re open to considering whatever you might have in mind.
If you have something that you want to send our way, please share the following:
A brief, one-paragraph overview of what your idea/piece is and what it argues and/or why it matters;
One paragraph on how you envision building it and what the final product would look like;
One to two lines telling us who you are.
We try our very best to reply to all pitch submissions within two weeks of receipt.
